Encompassing all aspects of economic development, staff work with all levels of government, development agencies, and the private sector to promote and advance economic development in Charlottetown. Staff are available to respond to enquiries and provide information and support for business.
The Environment Department of the City of Charlottetown has recently been established and tasked with the following goals: to create a sustainable community by implementing and expanding upon the goals and objectives of the Charlottetown Plan; to work integrally, on behalf of the city, to best use all community resources to achieve sustainable development and enhance quality of life through improved environmental decision making; to monitor and influence policy, bylaws and regulations that affect the City’s environment; and to work closely with the federal and provincial government on matters relating to the environment.
Event Attraction, with partners and the various levels government, continually pursues opportunities for Charlottetown to host regional, national and international sporting, cultural, and meeting events. The City of Charlottetown recognizes the value of the events sector and has placed high priority on events to stimulate tourism, economic and community growth.
This department monitors the overall City operating budget. Specific areas of responsibility include all general government billing, payments and computer activities, preparation of financial statements, payroll functions, purchasing, insurance coverage and claims, and banking.

The Human Resources Department supports the City of Charlottetown’s vision to manage the Human Resources of the City of Charlottetown to the optimal benefit of its citizens and the community through sound employee/labour relations and administrative support to the administration and employees of the City.
Parks & Recreation
The City of Charlottetown Parks and Recreation Department consists of 22 seasonal staff, 19 permanent staff and over 75 casual employees working together to serve the needs of its residents in the delivery of recreation related services.

The Planning Department helps neighborhoods grow and change by working with citizens, businesses, and others on both short and long-term plans or projects.
The Charlottetown Police Department, working together with the Community, strives to protect life and property and in so doing hopes to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Charlottetown and its visitors.
The Public Works Department for the City of Charlottetown has been tasked with maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, storm water systems, parking meter repairs, street lighting, and municipal building maintenance.

The Department is responsible for coordinating and promoting the City of Charlottetown's Tourism, Marketing, and Special Events and liases with all levels of government, City Departments, businesses, and private groups.
