Make Charlottetown Bloom

The City of Charlottetown, in partnership with Communities in Bloom, encourages residents each year to apply or nominate entrants for the Make Charlottetown Bloom program. The program is designed to reward those who maintain buildings and landscapes within City limits. Businesses and residents can enter themselves or nominate someone else. Entries are judged based on design, variety, colour, unique features and maintenance. For more information on Make Charlottetown Bloom, contact: 902-566-5548.

Institutional Properties - This category includes schools, churches, nursing homes and daycare centres.

Birds & the Bees - This category includes garden features that specifically enhance the quality of habitat for pollinators and beneficial insects.

Flower Gardens - This category includes all types of residential flower gardens on the property.

Window Boxes, Planters & Hanging Baskets - This category focuses on creativity used in gardening outside of traditional flower beds.

Water Wise Property - A water wise garden includes properties that conserve water, collect water or retain water.

Irene Rogers Pocket Gardens - This category is designed for those City residents who have improved the small space of land between their property and the sidewalk.

Curb Appeal - This category considers what the property looks like from the curb. It will include everything that can be seen in the front yard such as hardscaping, the look and design of the home and landscaping design (plantings of trees/shrubs, perennials and annuals).

Children and Youth Gardens - In this category we are looking for gardens that are planted, weeded and watered by children or youth, ages 18 or younger.

Adopt A Corner - Businesses in the downtown can adopt a corner and spruce it up with a garden. A program started by Downtown Charlottetown Inc.

Mayor's Award - This award will be presented by the Mayor of the City of Charlottetown to the owner of one city residential property in recognition of the overall improvement to their home and grounds.
