Spud tournament a shot in the arm for Charlottetown in the Winter
CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee wishes to congratulate all the players, coaches and volunteers who worked so hard to make the Mark’s Work Warehouse 2010 Spud AAA Minor Hockey Tournament such a success this past weekend.
"Charlottetown residents love their hockey and this was some good hockey," said Mayor Lee.
"This tournament, in the midst of winter, stimulates our economy and strengthens tourism. It was a huge success thanks to the hard work by many people.
"These young players have lots of heart and they can really skate. It’s good for our City and I appreciate the efforts of organizers, players and volunteers to make it such a great tournament," Lee said.
About Mayor Lee
Clifford was born and raised in Charlottetown where he lives with his wife Anne Marie and son Jamie.
First elected to Charlottetown City Council in November of 1986, he has served consecutive terms to date, was appointed Deputy Mayor in 2000 and elected Mayor of Charlottetown in November of 2003 and re-elected in November 2006. Clifford has been employed with the Province of Prince Edward Island since 1979.
His community services involvement includes being coordinator/manager with the Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association and board member of the PEI Action Housing Association. In his leisure time Clifford enjoys golfing, minor league sports and watching hockey.
