2015-02-05 - Transit Offers Assistance with City Parking Restrictions

T3 Transit is supporting the City of Charlottetown’s parking restrictions by offering bus service every 15 minutes from the Charlottetown Mall to downtown, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Additional bus runs have been added to the regular schedule to allow for motorists to park at the Charlottetown Mall and ride transit into the downtown every 15 minutes during the parking restriction. Return service from the downtown to the Charlottetown Mall is also being offered with bus transportation available every 15 minutes until 7 p.m.

The Charlottetown Mall administration has also been very supportive and has agreed to open its parking lot for additional vehicles so the public can take advantage of this additional bus service.

Commuters have been encouraged to use transit, carpool or park in the City’s three parkades since the parking restriction was put in place on February 4. The City began enforcing the parking restriction to discourage motorists from parking on City streets, impeding traffic and snow removal efforts.

The restriction is expected to be in place for 48 hours but may be extended depending on poor weather that’s expected overnight.
