2015-02-24 - Public Assistance Requested in Keeping Hydrants Accessible

The City of Charlottetown Water and Sewer Utility would like to remind snow clearing contactors and the public to take care where snow is piled while clearing driveways and sidewalks of snow.

Anyone who is shovelling, plowing or blowing snow from driveways or sidewalks is asked to be cognisant of where the snow is being thrown in order to prevent burying or blocking access to fire hydrants. Utility crews have cleared all fire hydrants following the recent blizzard but are having to re-visit many of the hydrants on more than one occasion because blowers and plows are blocking access to fire hydrants or re-covering them in snow.

Any assistance from the public in this matter is greatly appreciated.
