The City of Charlottetown has again been named as one of the Top 10 Economic Development Groups in Canada by Site Selection Magazine out of Atlanta, Georgia.
The ranking is part of Site Selection’s eighth annual Canada’s Best to Invest awards and is based on April 2014 - March 2015 corporate end-user facility investment and job creation data, which includes corporate facility investment, related job creation, partnerships, proactive programming and web resources.
"Investment in Charlottetown is put to good use. Companies see the value in investing here," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "This is a tremendous recognition for the second year running. To be included with Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal and other great cities demonstrates that Charlottetown punches well above its weight. We have a lot of people to thank for it. We have so many partners in both the public and private sectors that make great things happen in our community – everyone shares in this recognition."
Deputy Mayor Mike Duffy, Chair of the City’s Economic Development, Tourism, Arts and Culture committee was also pleased to see the city recognized again as a Top 10 location for economic development.
"We are experiencing success in so many sectors in Charlottetown," the Deputy Mayor said. "Our city is a proven high-value, low business cost destination for investment. There are many elements to our success. Our post-secondary institutions supply tremendous talent for our companies, and we are retaining more of our newcomers who bring vibrancy and diversity to our city and our economy. It is rewarding for all of our partners to be highlighted like this."
