The City of Charlottetown has ranked impressively as a cost effective business location in the 2016 KPMG International bi-annual study: Competitive Alternatives – Guide to International Business Locations Costs for 2016.
The report explores the most significant business cost factors in more than 110 cities and 10 countries around the world. It measures and provides insight on the impact of 26 key cost components.
Charlottetown ranks 1st in Canada in the area of corporate services, which includes both professional services and support services operations.
"Charlottetown consistently scores very well when it comes to being a great place to invest and do business," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "Once again, this validates the work that many people in our community have put into making Charlottetown a great location for investment."
The Capital City ranks 4th among the 17 featured Canadian cities and 6th among all 111 featured cities in the study. It also earned very high rankings in the areas of research and development services, manufacturing, and digital services.
"Charlottetown is a high-value location with proven cost advantages in business," said Councillor Mike Duffy, Chair of the City’s Economic Development, Tourism and Arts and Culture Committee. "We continue to see growth in the economy in Charlottetown and we have a high-level of workforce stability where the average job tenure is 8.5 years. It truly is a great place to live and work."
