2016-05-13 - City Preparing to Launch 2016 Tennis Programs in Victoria Park

The City of Charlottetown Parks and Recreation Department has finalized the details of its 2016 Tennis Program.

Recreation programs for youth, ages four to eighteen, will be offered afterschool in June. During the months of July and August, a morning program will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A fall afterschool program will also be offered.

For adults looking to participate, an evening program will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from June until September. A morning program will also be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays during the months of July and August.

"One of the many things that makes Charlottetown a great place to live is the variety of programs that are available to families and the activities that people can get involved in," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "Active living is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and we encourage everyone to take a look at our program offerings and get involved."

A registration evening for the tennis programs will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Victoria Park Tennis Clubhouse (payments will be accepted by cash or cheque only). Registrations will also be accepted online with payment via credit card, beginning on Monday, May 16. To access the online registration system, click on "Program Online Registration" in the Quick Links menu on the City’s homepage (Direct URL: www.maxsolutionsonline.com/cityofcharlottetown/). Registrations will also be accepted at Charlottetown City Hall (199 Queen Street) during regular business hours, beginning on Monday, May 16.

"This year the Parks and Recreation Department is offering tennis programming without contracting the service out," said Councillor Mitchell Tweel, Chair of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Leisure Activities Committee. "We’re very pleased to be able to continue offering quality tennis programming to the public and I’m proud of the department for stepping up to handle the service in-house this year."

With the exception of the one registration evening at the Victoria Park Tennis Clubhouse, all other registrations will be accepted online or at City Hall.
