The City of Charlottetown is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2nd Annual Charlottetown Garden Days as part of the National Garden Days held in June.
Charlottetown Garden Days celebrates the role of gardening in our communities and in our lives with workshops and walking tours for people of all ages. The events will take place from June 11-18.
"Charlottetown Garden Days was such a success last year that we have expanded the programming for this year," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "The City is just beginning to bloom in June and we encourage residents to come and take part in the exciting events and learn some tips on home gardening techniques."
Garden Days will include guided walking tours, and will emphasize the importance of home gardening and environmental initiatives with informational workshops on home landscape design and xeriscaping. The schedule also includes a special addition of Art After Dark with a garden themed painting (pre-registration is required). Garden Days will also include the annual Barrel planting competition with Charlottetown City Councillors, City Hall staff and local businesses. All events and workshops are free of charge, with the exception of the Art After Dark activity, and are open to the public.
"In addition to the Garden Days schedule, we’ll soon be doing a call for submissions for our Make Charlottetown Bloom competition. It’s another way to showcase the beautification work done in the community, especially that of our residents and businesses," said Councillor Bob Doiron, Chair of the Economic Development, Tourism, Arts and Culture committee. "There are so many beautiful outdoor spaces in our city that are hidden gems and deserve to be recognized. I encourage residents to check out Garden Days and stay tuned for information on how to participate in Make Charlottetown Bloom."
