The City celebrates Charlottetown’s 161st birthday with the annual Natal Day weekend taking place June 10 – 12.
Natal Day weekend will kick-off on Saturday, June 11 with the Smitty’s Pancake Breakfast taking place at Rochford Square from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy free pancakes, sausages, juice and coffee. In case of rain, the breakfast will take place at the Fire Station at 89 Kent Street.
The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Outer Limit Sports, will host a Skateboard and BMX Competition on Saturday, June 11 at Victoria Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will take place at 11 a.m., there is no admission fee and prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the competition. The Mayor and Council Seniors Social will also be held on Saturday, June 11 at the Murphy’s Community Centre from 2 - 4 p.m.
The traditional Natal Day Parade will take place on Sunday, June 12, departing from Fire Station #2 (152 St. Peter’s Road) at 10:15 a.m. and proceeding to Park Royal United Church. A Natal Day church service will follow the parade at the Park Royal United Church (11 Christie Drive) beginning at 10:30 a.m.
One of the highlights of the Natal Day Weekend is the family event "Afternoon in the Park" held at the beautiful Victoria Park on Sunday, June 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This family oriented event will have kiddie rides, inflatables, balloons, horse and wagon rides, a petting zoo, hot dogs, refreshments and birthday cake. There will also be music and entertainment.
