The fences are down and the work is completed on the play structure near the splash pad in Victoria Park. The minute the City of Charlottetown Parks and Recreation’s Playground Inspector and Installer David Rupert and his team stepped aside, families were making good use of the new playground. The equipment includes slides, climbing structures and many interactive activity panels, such as a set of bongo drums. The landscaping around the new playground is expected to be completed next week.
Councillor Mitchell Tweel, Chair of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Leisure Activities Committee, and Parks and Recreation Manager Frank Quinn were on-site at the opening to congratulate David Rupert and City staff for the work they put into the installation.
As another sign of summer, the Victoria Park splash pad will open on Saturday, June 25 and the Victoria Park pool will open on Wednesday, June 29. For more information on the City’s playgrounds and recreational programs, contact 902-368-1025.
