The Victorian Christmas Weekend will take place Friday, December 2, Saturday December 3 and Sunday, December 4. The weekend will feature the 3rd Annual Victorian Christmas Market, free horse and wagon rides, roaming Christmas carolers, Christmas movies at City Cinema, Brunch with Santa at select hotels, a warm-up station at the Confederation Centre of the Arts & Confederation Court Mall, a Christmas tree garden, live outdoor music and much more. Numerous businesses, community groups, and organizations will also be hosting festive events throughout the weekend to celebrate the season.
In order for this fantastic event to take place, a number of road closures are required. Motorists are advised that on Friday, December 2, from 5 a.m. until early Sunday morning, December 4, the following streets will be closed to all traffic, with no parking permitted on either side of these streets:
• Queen Street between Grafton Street and Richmond Street;
• Richmond Street between Pownal Street and Great George Street;
For persons with disabilities, the Victorian Christmas Market will have accessible washrooms on-site and the elevator and accessible washrooms within the Confederation Centre of the Arts are also available. Accessible parking is available in the downtown core, near the event.
In celebration of Victorian Christmas Weekend, Discover Charlottetown and the City of Charlottetown are partnering to offer free horse-drawn wagon rides to the public. These horse-drawn wagons will be traveling along portions of the following streets in historic downtown Charlottetown: Great George Street, Prince Street, Grafton Street, Pownal Street, All Souls Lane, Rochford Street, Kent Street, West Street, Richmond Street, Havilland Street, and Water Street.
The free horse-drawn wagons will be operating on the following dates/times:
Friday, December 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, December 4 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
