The City of Charlottetown’s 2017 Winter Active Campaign is well underway with free activities designed to encourage people of all ages to be more active during the winter months.
One of the events, the Winter Walk on the Boardwalk, takes place in Victoria Park on Sunday, January 22, from 1 - 3 p.m. The walk will begin on the boardwalk by Terry Fox Drive. There will be a tent set up where free hot chocolate and cookies will be available to participants.
"The Winter Active Campaign provides us with an opportunity to encourage the public to come out and enjoy the boardwalk year-round," said Councillor Mitchell Tweel, Chair of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Leisure Activities. "The boardwalk is a gem in our community, especially with the updates that were made to it last year and I encourage everyone to join me this weekend for this Winter Walk event."
In addition to the Winter Walk on the Boardwalk, the 2017 Winter Active Campaign includes other free activities such as snowshoeing, family skates, and a 10-week Learn to Run program.
