Work to install traffic signals at the intersection of Kensington Road, Exhibition Drive and Beasley Avenue is expected to be completed this week.
After unforeseen delays in pole delivery from the manufacturer, the traffic signal hardware for the intersection has arrived and the contractor will be on site to complete the installation.
Lane lines are also being re-painted to freshen the intersection. As per standard protocol, the signals at the intersection will operate in a flashing mode to notify motorists of the change in traffic control. In this flashing mode, the signals are operating like the previous stop-controls: constant flashing red on Exhibition Drive and Beasley Avenue, which is the equivalent of a stop sign and constant flashing amber along Kensington Road advising that motorists can proceed with caution.
Once the work in the intersection is completed, the flashing protocol will be in effect for approximately one week and then the system will transition to fully functioning signals (red-green-amber).
