2017-02-22 - Children’s Winter Festival Takes Place This Weekend

The Jack Frost Children's Winterfest, presented by Island Coastal, is set to take place at three entertaining venues from February 24 to 26.

This year's Outdoor Snow Kingdom includes ice slides, tube runs, up to 20 ice demonstration sculptures by the Canadian Ice Sculpting team, snow play zones and food vendors. The main entrance is located off Grafton Street. For persons with disabilities, there is limited disabled parking available on-site. The grounds are snow covered, but the warm-up tent, food vendors, face painting, balloon twisting, and stage performances are cleared of snow and fully accessible. There are also accessible washrooms on-site.

The Indoor Playland and Live Children’s Stage is located at the Charlottetown Eastlink Centre. There will be food vendors, inflatables, a petting zoo and lots of performances, including Treehouse TV's Splash’N Boots, Brent and Sarah's comedy magic show, the "Nearly World-Famous" DuffleBag Theatre in Beauty & the Beast and Little Red Riding Hood. The venue is fully accessible from the main entrance off of Kensington Road. For the Children’s Live Stage, which is in the arena side of the Eastlink Centre, there will be an accessible viewing area available through Gate 3. Accessible parking and washrooms are also available on-site.

At the Confederation Court Mall, there will be lunchtime specials and free entertainment on Saturday, February 25 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A schedule is available at www.jackfrostfestival.com by clicking on the Confederation Court Mall link.

A shuttle service, presented by Coach Atlantic Group and Downtown Charlottetown, will provide complimentary transportation to festival goers between all three Jack Frost venues, downtown Charlottetown and the official partner hotels. You can view the shuttle schedule at www.jackfrostfestival.com

Motorists travelling in the area of the Eastlink Centre or Event Grounds are asked to drive slow, yield for pedestrians and be extra vigilant as excited children travel to and from the event with their families.

Tickets are available at the Eastlink Centre Box Office, Outdoor Snow Kingdom at the Charlottetown Event Grounds, online and by phone (902) 629-6625.  For complete schedule of events, visit www.jackfrostfestival.com
