Fix a Leak Week is taking place March 20 to 26 and is designed to educate the public about the large quantity of water lost each year due to leaks in homes, businesses and infrastructure.
The City of Charlottetown, Town of Stratford, and Town of Cornwall have partnered to promote Fix a Leak Week to encourage the public to find and repair leaks in their homes or businesses to help conserve water.
During Fix a Leak Week, the three municipalities are running a social media campaign asking residents to post a photo or video of themselves or their family fixing a leak in their home. By using hashtag #IFixedALeak, participants are automatically entered for a chance to win a Kohler low-flow toilet, valued at $300 (donated by EMCO). The deadline to enter is March 26. The winner will be announced on social media of the three municipalities on March 27: @ChtownPE, @StratfordPEI, @CornwallPE.
Random prize draws will take place throughout Fix a Leak Week through the Be Water Friendly Facebook page, which can be found at: fb.me/BeWaterFriendly. Follow the page to find out how to enter. A special thanks to Home Hardware Charlottetown, The City of Charlottetown, Town of Stratford, and Town of Cornwall for donating prizes.
Leaks can account for, on average, 37,850 litres of water wasted in a home every year. Conserve water by checking your home for leaks and by repairing them as soon as possible.
