The City of Charlottetown sends a well-deserved congratulations to PEI native Brett Gallant, part of Team Canada, who recently won the gold-medal game at the Ford World Men’s Curling Championship in Edmonton.
Brett Gallant is the second on Team Canada, the same Newfoundland and Labrador team led by Brad Gushue that won the Brier earlier in March. Brett grew up in Charlottetown and has been a part of Gushue’s Newfoundland team since 2012.
"On behalf of City Council we want to send huge congratulations to Brett Gallant and Team Canada on this incredible win," said Mayor Clifford Lee. "We feel honored to be represented as a community by such a stand up young man and wish him and his teammates well on all future endeavors."
The Key to the City was presented to Brett Gallant Curling Rink on March 17, 2009 after his team won silver in the World Junior Curling Championships. Brett plans to return home to PEI for the summer and take a break from curling.
