The City of Charlottetown is now collecting information from those who wish to access the new Charlottetown Alert System. The system (formerly called the Mass Notification System) enables the City to provide alerts such as unexpected road closures, severe weather impacts, evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods, community event information and winter parking restriction notices.
Those living and working in Charlottetown can sign up online to receive time-sensitive messages. Subscription to the service is free and the public can choose what alerts they receive and how they receive them such as by home, mobile or business phone, email, text message.
A City employee, with appropriate identification, has begun a door-to-door campaign to visit residents over the summer to provide information about the system. She will be travelling in a City of Charlottetown vehicle or a Fire Department vehicle and wearing Charlottetown Fire Department clothing. She will not be collecting information from residents.
Sign up any time for this FREE service online at: www.charlottetown.ca and click the Charlottetown Alert System button.
If you require assistance signing up, call 902-629-4000, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday – Friday.
