The City of Charlottetown will welcome the Esmeralda today which will be berthed at Queen’s Wharf, behind the PEI Convention Centre.
The Esmeralda is expected to arrive this morning. In a previous release it was stated that the tall ship was to be berthed at Port Charlottetown; however, due to an unforeseen conflict she will now be berthed at Queen’s Wharf.
Since her commissioning, Esmeralda has served as a training ship for the Chilean Navy. She has visited more than 300 ports worldwide acting as a floating embassy for Chile. Esmeralda is a steel-hulled four-masted barquentine tall ship of the Chilean Navy.
Free deck tours are available to the public on Wednesday, July 12 from 2 – 6 p.m. and Thursday, July 13 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Queen’s Wharf. The Esmeralda is scheduled to depart the evening of Friday, July 14.
