The Fun in the City’s Greenspace activity scheduled to take place in Rochford Square today (Wednesday, August 30) at 12 p.m. (noon) has been cancelled. The activity was to be a community jam session.
This was the final, scheduled activity in the park for the 2017 Fun in the City’s Greenspace event. A range of diverse, free programming was held every Wednesday in July and August as part of this series.
The programming provided an opportunity for people who live, work, or visit Charlottetown to enjoy the City's heritage square, while taking part in a fun, organized activity. The goal was to encourage use of the greenspaces, promote healthy active lifestyles, and social activity. The types of activities ranged from exercise classes, such as yoga and tai chi, to lawn games, such as washer toss and bocci ball, and much more. The series was well attended and the City wishes to thank all those who participated, volunteered and helped organize this successful initiative, especially the Charlottetown Public Library for bringing books for all ages to enjoy and the Parks and Recreation staff for providing games.
This free programming was created as a result of the City’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan and feedback provided by the public. To learn more, visit: www.charlottetown.ca/sustainablecity.php
