T3 Transit celebrated its 12th anniversary in Charlottetown by breaking all of its previous records for individual day and monthly ridership numbers.

"The City of Charlottetown launched its new transit service just 12 years ago and since then the ridership in Charlottetown has been phenomenal," said City of Charlottetown Deputy Mayor Mike Duffy, Chair of the City’s Environment and Sustainability committee. "Ridership has continued to grow, which demonstrates the need for public transportation in our city. Congratulations to Transit on their 12th anniversary, but also on the continued record-breaking service."

Transit’s 12th anniversary was September 30. Leading up to that, on September 22, the transit service had its best weekday ever with 2,425 passenger fares in a single day.

"I can’t believe we have just celebrated our 12th anniversary of public transit with record breaking numbers in Charlottetown," said Mike Cassidy, owner of T3 Transit. "In 2006, our total yearly 12-month ridership was just over 100,000 passenger fares and now we have set a new monthly record this September of 50,751 passenger fares in one month. We are continuing to break our daily, monthly and weekend benchmark records and hope to achieve a total of 500,000 passenger fares by the end of 2017."

T3 Transit has terrific support from its customers seven days a week. In addition to Transit experiencing record monthly and weekday numbers, an all time high of 1,356 passenger fares rode the buses on Saturday, September 9, 2017 – Transit’s best Saturday yet. And, not to be outdone, Transit also had its best Sunday ever with ridership at 429 passenger fares on September 3, 2017.

Cassidy said he is proud that T3 Transit is a growing community service provider and is excited for it to begin its 13th year of business.

"I credit our success to the truly dedicated team of employees who work day in and day out, allowing transit to gain acceptance and become part of the fabric of our community," Cassidy said.
