The Victorian Christmas Weekend will take place from Friday, November 24 until Sunday, November 26. The weekend will feature the 4th annual Victorian Christmas Market, visits with Santa at the market, free horse and wagon rides, Sing-Alongs with Jill Chandler of Playing with Choir, free historical walking tours and church tours, roaming Christmas carolers, classic Christmas movies at City Cinema, breakfast with Santa at the Delta Prince Edward, a warm-up station at the Confederation Court Mall, a Christmas tree garden, ice sculpting demonstrations and much more.
In order for this event to take place, a number of road closures are required. Motorists are advised that from Friday, November 24, at 5 a.m., until 9 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, the following streets will be closed to all traffic, with no parking permitted on either side of the streets:
• Queen Street between Grafton Street and Richmond Street;
• Richmond Street between Pownal Street and Great George Street.
There will also be no parking permitted in the six spaces on the Confederation Court Mall side of Queen Street from the accessible parking space just outside of the mall entrance to the corner of Grafton Street.
For persons with disabilities, the Victorian Christmas Market will have accessible washrooms on-site, and the elevator and accessible washrooms within the Confederation Centre of the Arts are also available. Accessible parking is available in the downtown core, near the event.
In celebration of Victorian Christmas Weekend, there will be free horse-drawn wagon rides for the public. These horse-drawn wagons will be traveling along portions of the following streets in historic downtown Charlottetown: Great George Street, Pownal Street, All Souls Lane, Rochford Street, Kent Street, West Street, Richmond Street, Havilland Street, and Water Street.
The Victorian Christmas Market and free horse-drawn wagons will be operating on the following dates/times:
Friday, November 24 – 5 – 8 p.m.
Saturday, November 25 – 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sunday, November 26 – 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
