The Wintertide Holiday Festival Tree Lighting, which takes place on Friday, November 24, will have a little extra sparkle this year. As the City tree is illuminated, there will be a short pyrotechnic display for the enjoyment of those in attendance.
The Wintertide Holiday Festival will be in full swing this weekend. The Tree Lighting begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Upper Plaza of the Confederation Centre of the Arts. The Victorian Christmas Weekend starts on Friday with activities all weekend. The event includes an open-air Victorian Christmas market with artisans and food vendors, Christmas movies, horse and wagon rides, carolers, and more! The Charlottetown Christmas Parade takes place on Saturday, November 25, at 5 p.m. All of these events are free to attend and everyone is welcome.
Motorists are reminded to take extra caution when travelling in historic downtown Charlottetown during these events as there will be an increase in pedestrian traffic. Horse-drawn wagons will be on portions of the following streets: Great George Street, Pownal Street, All Souls Lane, Rochford Street, Kent Street, West Street, Richmond Street, Havilland Street, and Water Street. There will also be barriers in place for the various road closures required for the events.
