City of Charlottetown Water and Sewer Utility staff are busy repairing two waterman breaks today (Sunday, January 14) with assistance being provided by Public Works staff.
The first waterman break is in the area of University Avenue and Douglas Street. The break has been repaired and the street is being cleaned and salted. Backfilling of a nearby power pole, which will also require Maritime Electric to be on site, is currently taking place. One lane of University Avenue, between Reserve and Douglas streets, is closed temporarily. This work is expected to be completed within the next few hours.
The second waterman break is in the area of Kensington Road and Park Street. Kensington Road is closed between Park Street and Hawthorne Avenue while the work takes place. It's expected that Maritime Electric will also be on site, along with Public Works staff who are assisting with cleanup and traffic control. It's expected this repair will will not be completed until later in the evening.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. The Utility and Public Works Departments thank the public for their cooperation and patience as these necessary repairs take place.
