Sydney Thompson from West Kent Elementary School will serve as honorary Fire Chief of the Charlottetown Fire Department’s Station No. 1 during the annual City of Charlottetown Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 29.

The Grade 3 student received a smoke alarm for her bedroom, and a bag of goodies from the Fire Department. She was chosen for submitting a fire escape plan for her home where she identified the exits and smoke alarms.

Sydney’s designation as honorary Fire Chief will be celebrated as she rides in a fire truck during the parade to represent her class.

Crossroads and North River fire stations, as well as Charlottetown Fire Station No. 2, will be also be joining the Christmas parade with their honorary fire chiefs.
