The Charlottetown Fire Department and Mayor Clifford Lee formally welcomed four new volunteer firefighters at Station No. 1 and three new volunteer firefighters at Station No. 2 during the December 8 City Council meeting.
The successful applicants from the Charlottetown Fire Department’s 2013 recruitment campaign have officially been presented with their PEI Firefighters Association Level 1 Certification – the first level of qualification for a firefighter in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association’s Standard 1001.
The seven new firefighters also successfully completed the Medical First Responder and Hazmat Awareness courses.
They were presented with their certification by Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. Charlottetown Deputy Chief Tim Mamye, District 1 Chief Moe Sherry and District 2 Chief Greg Shaw were in attendance.
The new volunteer firefighters are: Andrew Chisholm, Mike Cunningham, Brandon Gillis and Fred McInnis at Fire Station No. 1, and Tim McCarthy, Lukman Mustapha and Colton Pound at Fire Station No. 2.
