The Charlottetown Public Works Department wishes to advise the public that snow operations to widen streets are still underway and continued public cooperation is needed for efficient work.
Vehicles parked at the end of driveways are potential hazards for plow operators and can slow operations, making it challenging to complete the widening of streets. The public is asked to consider parking in their driveways as far from the street as possible and to ensure obstacles, such as garbage cans or blue recycling bags, are not in the roadway or impeding snow removal.
The public is also reminded that the parking restriction on City streets will remain in place until further notice. As streets are cleared and parking spaces are available, vehicles will be permitted to park in legal/metered spaces. Vehicles impeding traffic or snow removal operations will be ticketed and towed, including vehicles parked in spaces that are still snow filled or on streets that where snow removal is still taking place.
Motorists are encouraged to carpool or take advantage of transit until the parking restriction is lifted. The transit schedule is available at triustransit.ca. Parking spaces have also been cleared at the Peakes Quay parking lot, the Railyard lot, Queens Wharf lot, and the Grafton Street lot across from the Charlottetown Event Grounds. Some of these lots have costs associated with them and motorists planning to utilize the lots are asked to contact the Charlottetown Area Development Corporation to make arrangements by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 902-892-5341.
