APA is pleased to announce the selection of showcasing artists for Contact East taking place September 17 – 20, 2015 in Charlottetown, PEI.
Celebrating its 40th year, the event will see over 250 regional, national and international delegates take in three full days of artistic discovery. Artists include critically acclaimed, Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Danny Michel, the Internationally renowned theatre company Horse & Bamboo Theatre from the UK, ECMA award-winning artist Irish Mythen, and the newly formed trio The Eastern Belles featuring PEI’s own Meaghan Blanchard, Ashley Condon and Catherine MacLellan.
"I'm totally pumped to perform with my band at Contact East in 2015. As an independent artist, this is a fantastic opportunity to present my music to music buyers, grow my business, and to connect with larger audiences around the world," says showcasing artist Christina Martin.
Contact East is a unique opportunity to see a variety of top-notch award winning performances from across North America and beyond. In addition to general audiences, APA invites venue and festival representatives from around the world to come to Charlottetown to do business; booking many of the artists who will be showcasing. Contact East will spotlight three Island venues, all members of APA: the Confederation Centre of the Arts (The Mack), The Guild and the Indian River Festival at St. Mary’s Church. Each venue will host artist showcases throughout the three day event. Other artists to be featured at Contact East include Alysha Brilla, Ash & Bloom, Brianna Gosse, Coco Love Alcorn, Comedy in Motion with Bob Cates, Duo Percussion, Geordie Productions, Joe Trio, MAZ, Mulgrave Road Theatre, Port Cities, QUARTOM, Queen Nur, Sherman Downey, Stephen Fearing, The Backyard Devils, The Lion The Bear The Fox, The Secrets, The Slocan Ramblers, Tomato/Tomato and ZOGMA.
APA is also pleased to announce the artists who have been selected for the popular Pitch Sessions. These artists include Alberta Ballet II, Dada, Everything Fitz, Green Thumb Theatre, Halifax Theatre for Young People, Kleztory, Nancy Kenny, Les Bordeliques, The Swinging Belles, theatre KAPOW and Whiskey Jack. Since its inception in 1975 APA, through Contact East, has booked millions of dollars in tour revenue for artists touring the region, while working with our members to help them bring unique and amazing performances to every corner of Atlantic Canada.
APA invites residents of the City of Charlottetown and communities on Prince Edward Island to experience the best in music, theatre and dance during this four day event. Limited tickets will be available and will be on sale early July at the Confederation Centre of the Arts and at St. Mary’s Church in Indian River.
