Shift Project and Event Management is thrilled to officially launch the 2015 Waterfront Concert Series in Charlottetown this summer. Taking place over two days on Canada Day weekend, the festival will feature critically acclaimed artists from across the country.
The first acts to be announced include Saturday headliner City and Colour who brings his platinum selling catalogue to the main stage on Saturday, July 4th. City and Colour will be joined by indie-rocker Joel Plaskett, and PEI’s own pop rockers Paper Lions. The festival features shows on both Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 with artists for Friday evening being announced in the upcoming days.
Set on the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront, in Confederation Landing Park, the inaugural event is sure to be a memorable one for locals and visitors alike. Though the bands bring a wide international fan-base, the experience will be distinctly East Coast.
The concert site will feature a main stage and a VIP stage, sponsored by Red Shores. There will be additional performances by Dennis Ellsworth, Whaleskin, Dylan Menzie, and others. Additional events will include a VIP Happy Hour, as well as off-site performances throughout the day, presented in partnership with local restaurants. Official post parties will also be hosted on both nights.
"Shift is extremely excited to be developing this new concert series for Charlottetown." says Mark Fisher, president of Shift Project and Event Management. "We want to offer concert goers a new level of experience and engagement here in the capital. Our hope is to foster relationships with regional concert fans and partners to build a truly unique product over the coming years."
"The City of Charlottetown applauds the efforts of Shift Project and Event Management to create the new Waterfront Concert Series. The City is a strong supporter of cultural activities and has a history of welcoming successful annual musical events on and around Canada Day," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "Charlottetown has always been the place to be on Canada Day weekend. We look forward to Shift growing the Waterfront Concert Series into a major music festival in future years and wish them the best of luck with their inaugural event."
Fisher emphasizes the importance of collaboration on a project like this. "I'm honoured to be working with the City of Charlottetown and other partners who share a passion and a vision for our City. The 2015 Waterfront Concert Series is the beginning of a long term plan for Shift, where we see tremendous potential for growth in the entertainment and creative industries."
