2015-06-15 - City of Charlottetown Launches Garden Days

The City of Charlottetown, in partnership with the Garden Council of Canada, is introducing Charlottetown Garden Days – a two-day event celebrating Canada’s national Garden Day, which is held annually on the Friday before Father’s Day.

Charlottetown Garden Days celebrates the role of gardening in our communities and in our lives with workshops and walking tours for people of all ages. It will take place June 19-20.

"Charlottetown Garden Days is a great opportunity for garden enthusiasts, families and tourists to celebrate Charlottetown’s beautiful landscape and history while learning about ways to enhance their own gardens," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "Beautification has always been important to our City and this event will draw attention to the multitude of gardening initiatives our community supports."

Garden Days will include guided walking tours, and will emphasize the importance of home gardening and environmental initiatives with informational workshops on home landscape design and xeriscaping.  All events and workshops are free of charge and are open to the public.

"The City of Charlottetown is excited to celebrate national Garden Days and we are proud to showcase our cultural garden landscape and history that attracts so many people to our City," said Deputy Mayor Mike Duffy, Chair of the Economic Development, Tourism, Arts and Culture committee.
