The 36th edition of the Acadian Games takes place this weekend (June 26 – 30). Thousands of athletes and spectators will be visiting Charlottetown and using venues around the Capital City.
The general public is encouraged to attend the Opening Ceremony at the Eastlink Centre on Saturday, June 27 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Eastlink Centre box office at a cost of $5 for adults, $2 for youth ages 6 to 18, and children ages 5 and under are free. The Opening Ceremony will include a Parade of Flags, performances by contemporary Acadian traditional group Vishtèn, and much more. The sporting and cultural events during the remainder of the Games are open to the public at no cost.
During the Games, the Mountain Biking Competition will take place on the East Royalty Trail system. As a result, the East Royalty Trails will be closed to the public on the following days (times are approximate):
Saturday, June 27, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 28, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Monday, June 29, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
