The City of Charlottetown Water and Sewer Utility and Bevan Bros. Plumbing and Heating have begun working on the Residential Water Meter Installation Program which will see a meter installed in every Charlottetown residence by 2019.

Charlottetown City Council awarded the contract for the installation program to Bevan Bros. Plumbing and Heating at its regular monthly meeting in July.

City staff and the contractor are now working on a map, which will show the phases of the project, including a timeline. It will be published on the City and Bevan Bros. Plumbing and Heating websites by September. Once the map is completed, information sessions will be held to keep the public informed of the progress and schedule.

The goal of the installation program is to protect the City’s water supply and reduce overall consumption in Charlottetown.

Any existing water utility customer wishing to have a meter installed sooner than later, can call for an appointment.

For more information on the water meter program or to sign up early for metered service, contact the Water and Sewer Utility at: 902-629-4014.
