The replacement of the City of Charlottetown Victoria Park Boardwalk continues this month. Construction began in September on the section closest to Brighton Road, by the Victoria Park Pool. The work will be done in 1,500-foot sections in order to keep most of the boardwalk open to pedestrians. Signage will be in place to direct the public around the construction zone.
Beginning on Thursday, October 15 until further notice, the Victoria Park Roadway (both lanes) will be closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. until appropriately 9 a.m., Monday to Friday, to allow for delivery of lumber material, permit the movement of machinery and adjust sectional fencing.
The work on the boardwalk is expected to take place until the end of November. The scope of the work includes: removal of the old boardwalk; improving the drainage; upgrading the stringers; upgrading the decking to a marine-grade lumber; widening the boardwalk from eight feet to 10 feet; and upgrading the material below and behind the benches.
The Parks and Recreation Department apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks the public for their continued cooperation.
