The 2015 Hennessey Lecture will take place this weekend (Sunday, November 1) at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre of the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
This year’s lecture, "Centres of Creativity: Building Public Cultures", will feature Banff Centre President Janice Price. Price will explore the transformative interplay of culture and communities, and the role of art in creating vital cultural centres and public spheres. She will address the dilemma of architecture and audiences and what it means for arts organizations to have a proactive role in civic life – as well as how arts and culture, and therefore creativity, play an intrinsic role in shaping local and national identities and "brands" within an international cultural landscape.
The City of Charlottetown is one of the lecture organizers.
A reception hosted by the Architects’ Association of Prince Edward Island will follow the lecture.
