2016-04-01 - City Hall to Light Up in Blue for World Autism Awareness Day

What do Charlottetown City Hall, Egypt’s Luxor Temple, Massachusetts’ Fenwick Tower and Toronto’s Gardiner Museum have in common? These are just a few of the landmarks that will be lit up in blue for World Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, April 2.

World Autism Awareness Day was adopted by the United Nations in 2007 to shine a bright light on autism as a growing global health priority. Autism Speaks, an autism science and advocacy organization, celebrates its international "Light It Up Blue" campaign every year on World Autism Awareness Day.

Thousands of iconic landmarks, skyscrapers, schools, businesses and homes around the world, including Charlottetown City Hall, will recognize World Autism Awareness Day by shining blue lights in honour of individuals and families affected by autism. Autism Speaks Canada also encourages people to wear blue for World Autism Awareness Day.
