The Charlottetown Fire Department would like to notify the public that the annual Smoke Alarm Program has begun. The Department’s Fire Prevention Assistant will be visiting Charlottetown homes over the next few months to check smoke alarms and leave information about fire safety.
Checks will take place Monday to Friday, and the Fire Prevention Assistant will be identifiable by a marked vehicle. If a resident is not home, fire safety information will be left, along with a reminder to regularly test smoke alarms.
It is important to have a working smoke alarm on each level and in every sleeping room of a home. The Department encourages all residents to test their smoke alarms and change batteries regularly. Working smoke alarms save lives.
