The City of Charlottetown, in partnership with Discover Charlottetown, has launched a new photo contest – "Picture Charlottetown" – for all ages, with prizes valued up to $1,000.

The Picture Charlottetown photo contest will run from July 4 until October 31. In November, there will be a Gala Exhibit at City Hall featuring prize winners and honorable mentions in each category.

"We have developed this contest to engage the community and encourage creativity," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee "As we transition from summer to fall in Charlottetown, there are so many vibrant colors that highlight our beautiful landscapes. Combine that with our rich history, our diversity and culture, and the people who make this city great and you have the perfect setting for a photo contest. We are excited to see a wide range of photos submitted by our residents and visitors alike."

Photo submissions will be divided into two categories; youth (17 years of age and under) and adult (18 years and older). Grand prizes will be awarded in both categories. In addition, there will be 16 random weekly draws, beginning on Friday, July 8,  with prize packages valued at approximately $100 each thanks to businesses and sponsors in the Charlottetown area.

For more information, including the contest rules and regulations, and to submit to the contest, visit: www.charlottetown.ca and click on the Picture Charlottetown button (Direct URL: www.charlottetown.ca/photocontest.php).
