The second Newcomer Orientation Session, hosted by the City of Charlottetown, is taking place on Thursday, November 3 at the City Hall, 199 Queen St., followed by a tour of Charlottetown Fire Department, Station 1.
This orientation session will include a Department Program and Services Information Fair and a Meet and Greet with Mayor Clifford Lee, City Councillors, Department Staff and Newcomer Ambassadors. The featured presentation will be provided by the Planning department regarding construction and renovation regulations of residential homes and commercial buildings.
Newcomers are invited to this family friendly event which will conclude with a tour of the Fire Station 1. Families will be met by firefighters and have the opportunity to try on gear, tour the inside of fire trucks including the ladder truck and the rescue truck, use the fire extinguisher, and view rescue technology. A presentation with 10 Safety tips for Fire Safety and Smoke Alarms Use will also be given.
The Newcomer Orientation Sessions are free and open to newcomers who have recently moved to Charlottetown. Children’s activities and refreshments will be provided.
