The City of Charlottetown is challenging PEI municipalities to support the Cooking for KidSport challenge and help raise money for KidSport PEI.
Cooking for KidSport features five PEI sports teams in a friendly competition with a single goal of raising money for KidSport PEI. The teams include the UPEI Panthers, Holland Hurricanes, Charlottetown Islanders, Island Storm and Summerside Western Capitals. Each team will feature three members of their organization as celebrity chefs who will compete against the other team celebrities to re-create one of the main dishes featured during a sold-out dinner at Culinary Institute of Canada on March 9. In addition, each team will be competing to see who can get the most pledges/donations for KidSport PEI from their fan bases.
The City of Charlottetown has donated $100 for each of the five teams involved in the challenge. The money will go towards KidSport PEI’s goal of KidSport PEI removing the financial barriers that limit some children from participating in sport in PEI.
"In the City of Charlottetown, we believe that healthy active living needs to start at very young age," said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee. "That’s why organizations like KidSport PEI are so important. We challenge other municipalities in PEI to also make a contribution on behalf of their favourite team."
Visit www.cookingforkidsport.ca for more information or pledge support for KidSport PEI on behalf of your favourite team. Every donation counts! Donations of $25 and higher will be provided with an official charitable tax receipt.
