The City of Charlottetown will hold a public information session at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 5) to consult with the public on the Eastern Gateway Master Plan.
The Plan is a long-term, forward-thinking document that illustrates how this area of the City could evolve over time and create new private and public development opportunities. The Eastern Gateway area is generally bounded by Cumberland Street, Grafton Street, Kensington Road, Exhibition Drive, Riverside Drive and Water Street. In the summer of 2010 and winter of 2011, a number of property owners participated in a process to create the Plan.
The City of Charlottetown has hired the same consulting firm to return to Charlottetown and re-examine the policies in the master plan. The original consulting firm hired to conduct this work was Urban Strategies and the principal consultant (George Dark) will be at the public information session to explain the land use policy direction for this area. The consultants and City staff will be engaging with citizens and stakeholders over the next few months to revisit the policies in this plan.
The public information session will take place on Wednesday, April 5 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Studio 1 at 7 p.m. The proposed meeting is to share information with the public and is not intended as a public meeting to bring the plan forward to City Council for adoption at this time.
