The City of Charlottetown recently made it to the top of the list as the number one best place to travel in Canada for 2014 on Vacay.ca.
"Charlottetown is a wonderful City and it’s great to see Charlottetown recognized as the number one place in Canada to visit in 2014," said Mayor Clifford Lee. "This shows we have done our job and have worked efficiently with community partners to build on our rich history and invite all Canadians to Charlottetown in 2014, as we trace the footsteps of the Fathers of Confederation who met here in 1864. Charlottetown’s designation as the number one Place to Travel in Canada in 2014 is an excellent demonstration of the high regard in which Charlottetown is held in the tourism industry. It is little secret that tourism is one of our key drivers of our local economy. It is our natural beauty, magnificent architecture, heritage streetscapes and the friendliness of our citizens that keep people coming back to the Birthplace of Confederation."
As Charlottetown celebrates its 150th Anniversary as the Birthplace of Confederation, people from across this great country are invited to join in the year-long celebrations. Charlottetown has already kicked off 2014 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve Celebration and many other festivals and events will take place throughout the year. The City has worked hard to position itself not only as a top notch tourism destination but also an excellent location to host major sporting events as well as national and international conferences.
"The City has invested many months of planning and preparation leading up to the start of 2014," said Mayor Clifford Lee. "We are proud to live in the Birthplace of Confederation and share this special City with all Canadians as it holds such an important place in Canadian history. "
The City is pleased to be the host of several signature events taking place in 2014. Alongside all the additional festivals, events and programming, Charlottetown continues to offer all the amenities of a large City. From delicious culinary experiences to dazzling arts and cultural performances, the Capital City has something for everyone. We open our arms and invite Canada and people from all around the globe to celebrate with us this year in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
