The City of Charlottetown was excited to learn that Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have accepted an invitation to visit during the 150th Anniversary of the 1864 Conference, which led to Confederation.
Prince Edward Island is included in their Royal Tour of Canada, as well as Manitoba and Nova Scotia. Mayor Lee, City Council and all citizens of Charlottetown look forward to having their Royal Highnesses in the Capital City. As the Birthplace of Confederation it is humbling that the Royal Tour recognizes Charlottetown’s historic designation.
"We are ecstatic that Prince Charles and Camilla are coming to Charlottetown during the 2014 anniversary year," said Mayor Clifford Lee. "The 2014 celebrations of the 150 Anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference will be a wonderful year of celebrations in so many ways, the Royal visit only adds to the festivities."
