The City of Charlottetown’s Arts Advisory Board is pleased to announce the inaugural Charlottetown Arts and Culture Awards will be presented on Friday, June 13th. The celebratory event will include music, food and the awards presentations. The Haviland Club in Charlottetown is hosting the celebration.
"The presence of arts and culture in our community displays our unique appeal. It is an important step in supporting this sector to recognize the contributions to our City through these inaugural awards", says Mayor Clifford Lee.
Any resident of Prince Edward Island can submit a nomination for an Arts and Culture Award. Criteria outlines the nominee must live in, work in or make a substantial contribution to the arts and cultural sector in the City of Charlottetown. Nomination forms and details around the submission process are available on the City’s website through a prominent link on the homepage. The deadline for award nominations is Friday, May 9th.
Chair of the Arts Advisory Board, Spencer Campbell, says the nomination and award process is an important engagement opportunity between the arts community and the general public. "We look forward to receiving a broad spectrum of nominations reflecting the many disciplines of the arts active in our community. The general public is invited to engage in the process, both through the nomination process and by attending the awards ceremony."
The Arts Advisory Board has been active since early 2014, as a result of recommendations by the Arts and Cultural Task Force Report to the City of Charlottetown in 2013.
