The Historic Commons has several components, including: a large sign welcoming people into the city, interpretative panels that tell the story of the 1864 Charlottetown Conference, a spectacular piece of public art, decorative wrought iron fencing, flag poles, benches and inviting landscaped and paving stone areas.
The unveiling event includes live music, a barbeque, fresh mussels, balloon twisters, face painting, cake and a special opening ceremony with: The Honourable H. Frank Lewis, Lieutenant Governor of PEI; His Worship Clifford Lee, Charlottetown Mayor; Richard Brown, MLA for Charlottetown-Victoria Park (on behalf of The Honourable Robert Ghiz, PEI Premier); Ron Waite, CADC General Manager; and Island Artists, Gerald Beaulieu and Ahmon Katz.
