2014-06-12 - Charlottetown 1864 Week Anniversary Celebrations – Rain Plan

The City of Charlottetown’s 1864 Anniversary Celebrations are well underway and will continue into the weekend, despite the forecasted rain.

All events scheduled for Friday, June 13 will go ahead as planned – rain or shine.

All 1864 Week events on Saturday and Sunday are rain or shine, with the exception of a few activities that will be cancelled or relocated if it rains. An announcement will be made by 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 and distributed to the public through local media. It will also be posted to the City’s website at www.charlottetown.ca under the 1864 button and News and Notices section.

The following is a list of 1864 Week events that MAY be cancelled or relocated if it rains. Please check for the announcement on Saturday.

• The Pancake Breakfast at the Confederation Centre of the Arts on Saturday, June 14 at 8:30 a.m. will be moved inside of the Confederation Centre if it rains.

• The Cultural Market at Victoria Row on Saturday, June 14 from 10:30 until 3 p.m. will be cancelled if it rains.

• The Official Declaration of Quebec Day and the Flag Raising Ceremony on Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. will be moved into the Charlottetown Fire Station No. 1 on Kent Street if it rains.

• The Outer Limits Sport Bike and Skate Competition on Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. will be cancelled if it rains.

• Quebec/PEI Entertainment at the Confederation Centre of the Arts Amphitheatre on Saturday, June 14 from 12-6 p.m. will go ahead as planned, but be moved inside the Confederation Centre’s Memorial Hall if it rains.

• The Quebec Garden/ Quebec Brick Installation Unveiling at Confederation Landing on Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. will go ahead as planned, but be moved inside the Lobster on the Wharf Restaurant if it rains.

• The SS Victoria Bell event at Confederation Landing on Saturday, June 14 at 2:30 p.m. will be moved inside of the Lobster on the Wharf Restaurant if it rains.

• The Fireworks at Victoria Park scheduled for 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 will be cancelled and moved to Sunday, June 15 at 10 p.m. if it rains.

• The Official Guest Book Signing on the steps of Province House on Sunday, June 15 at 11:30 a.m. will take place inside of Province House if it rains.

• The Family Day in the Park events at Victoria Park on Sunday, June 15 from 12:30 - 6 p.m. will be cancelled if it rains. Please note: This does not include the Concerts in the Park series, the Sailpast by the Charlottetown Yacht Club or the Official Ceremony, which are all events that will go ahead rain or shine at Victoria Park on Sunday, June 14.

Everything else not listed above that is part of Charlottetown’s 1864 Anniversary Celebrations will continue as planned rain or shine.
