The City of Charlottetown conducted a review of downtown parking with Council releasing the Downtown Charlottetown Parking Strategy Report in May 2008.  The Parking and Transit Committee has been working on implementing the recommendations contained in the Report.

Park Free
The City of Charlottetown in cooperation with Downtown Charlottetown Inc. has introduced the Park Free Program. Shop downtown at participating merchants and receive one hour of free street side metered parking or in one of three downtown parkades. Park for as little as $3 per day at Pownal Parkade with the purchase of a monthly pass. Please note .. feeding the parking meters is illegal.

Parking ticket payments available online
With a valid Mastercard or VISA, you now can pay a City of Charlottetown parking ticket online in three simple steps.
Offered 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, this new payment system is part of the City's commitment to provide easy access to your services. See the online payment system.

Winter Parking
No person shall park or leave any vehicle on the travelled portion of any street or square between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from the 15th day of November to the 15th day of April, both dates inclusive or such other dates as City Council may approve.

The Police Department shall give notice in any newspaper published in Charlottetown of the dates when the prohibition as described in subsection (a) concerning the overnight parking or leaving of vehicles in any area or areas of Charlottetown shall be in effect.
